Our Boy-Girl SHARED Bedroom

I have a 4 yr old boy and 15 month old girl who share a room and will be for the foreseeable futures currently we have a double bed and a crib in the room, but will soon be out of the crib phase. I'll post pictures of the room tomorrow as I need your ideas and creativity.

This room had previously been our guest bedroom with a Fiji vacation theme. Welcome hearing others experience with these type bunk beds and if there's one they like better than the otherz. However my boy is all boy and into fireman and everything fireman plus the usual trucks, Mickey Mouse, paw patrol etc.

Ill send end pictures of our room but it's a cape vid with lots of windows and doors so it's even hard to find a wall for the bed. I'm hoping to decorate with a theme that can carry with them until around 8 or so but I also don't want to be too embarrassed of it to let our friends see the space either.

If the room is large enough, I suggest that you place a divider down the middle and put a twin bed on either side of the divider. This way, each child will have a sense of privacy and separation and you can decorate differently on either side of the divider.

The divider can be a hanging curtain or screen. Girl and boy shared bedroom. One way to decorate for two is to use bedding. He can have fireman bedding and she can have ballet or flowers or princess. Then pick a color that is in both bedding sets and use that for the walls.

I used to have a twin over full bunk in my kids' guest room. Didn't like it. Very hard to make the upper bed or even lean in for a bedtime kiss from the top bunk. As young as they are, I don't know that I'd go with a "theme" so much. Better to pick a color scheme and decorate within it. Blue, gray, and yellow is really neutral and adaptable. You can get different bedspreads paw patrol for your boy, pretty florals for your girl until she's old enough to develop opinions , posters and wall decals, etc, that you can change out over the years, but keep beds, dressers, lamps, and other furniture in your base color set so it'll last when their interests change.

Instead of an asymmetric bunk bed, I'd get a regular one with a trundle bed. That way you have the extra room when you need it, but save on floorspace when you don't. I also love the pic thelma posted with the 2 lofts, so maybe file that away for "someday" when your girl is old enough to use ladders.

Totally messed me up for life. He cried himself to sleep every night. Wet the bed. Woke me up. Had to go to bed at the same time. Couldn't read. Still mad about it 50 years later.

I love all the ideas and I'll get you some pictures to help with the. Entail picture. My concern is downgrading my son from a double to a twin since he had no issues transitioning from crib to double never fell off bed ever , but does move around a little when he sleeps.

I was trying to find a solution that allowed me to keep him in a double. Our problem is limited wall space. I thinker picture above with the single beds back to back might work or the junior bunk beds.

Thanks for the feedback on the difficulty in changing the sheets and tucking in kids with the double sized bunk bed. Ok here are pictures but please don't judge, the room is a mess, it has been our overflow storage room for the holidays. We plan to keep the brown dresser in the room and you will see there are built in storage drawers in the dormers. We need to find a place for a book shelf as well.

You can't tell from the picture lighting but the walls are actually a very nice vanilla neutral, just a touch of color to it. I know the mural is kitchy but it is Fiji from our honeymoon and worked with our Fiji beach theme, so I'd like to keep it for a year or two more if I can make it work. You can't tell from the pics but my favorite part was always the sign above the changing table that said "nude beach". That being said I do welcome suggestions and have thick skin so bring it!

I don't want the room to feel too overwhelmed with furniture and heavy. I loved all the photos you all sent above so am hoping with actual reference photos you might have additional great ideas.

Thanks again and happy holidays! I think regular twin bunk beds where the crib currently is will be the way to go. Heck, only the prospect of a cozy lower bunk would get my kid out of her crib at 4! Easiest to use, they can change top and bottom if their tastes change later, maximum floor space in room, etc. Agree on simple color scheme and fun personalized bedding.

Double beds are for teens and beyond I'd move the mural to the wall where the large dresser currently sits. Here are some bedding ideas. I would pick either the sheet set or the duvet set. Both might be too much.

There's also a flamingo print that your daughter might like. I can't find it online but check the stores. I remember when my mom arbitrarily announced that my sister and I could no longer bathe together.

We had such fun with our toys, I could see no reason why, so apparently her timing was perfect. Indem Sie weiterhin auf der Website surfen bzw.

You could hang an appropriate pic above each bed to give each one its own personality. The blue coffee table on wheels could be used between the beds as a night stand, if there is room.
